Michael Prunty

Michael Prunty was named the Coe College Women's Soccer Head Coach in March of 2017. A 2004 graduate of Simpson College, Prunty appeared in 66 games for the Storm with 48 starts.  Prunty was a member of the 2000 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship team. 

In his two seasons on the campus of Coe College, Prunty has led the Kohawks to two conference tournament appearances and regional rankings in both 2017 and 2018.  His teams have produced multiple All-Region, All-Conference, and Academic All-American student-athletes.

Prunty currently serves as a head coach for Iowa Olympic Development Program 2004G team in addition to his duties at Coe College.

Prunty formerly served as the City High Girls Soccer Head Coach in Iowa City from 2015 to 2018, where he was named the Mississippi Valley Conference – Mississippi Division Coach of the Year in 2015.  During his time with City High, the Little Hawks were consistently ranked in the top 15 in Class 3A with multiple All-State performers and three Regional Final appearances.

Prunty has experience at several clubs including stops in Iowa, Colorado and Illinois.  More recently, Prunty worked as a staff coach at Cedar River Soccer Association in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and also served as the Assistant Director of Coaching at the Iowa Soccer Club in Iowa City, Iowa.

Prunty served as the Culver-Stockton College Head Men’s Soccer coach in 2011 and 2012. Prunty also served as an assistant coach for the Simpson College men and women during the 2010 season. Prior to returning to his alma mater, he was an assistant men’s coach at St. Ambrose University from 2008-2010. 

Prunty earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education from Simpson, where he graduated Cum Laude. He also has a Masters of Education in Teaching from St. Ambrose. Prunty also holds a Premier Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches, formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. 

Prunty resides in Cedar Rapids with his wife, April, and two children, Maclaine and Sullivan.
