Volleyball Slides Past Buena Vista in Four Sets

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's volleyball team downed Buena Vista 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Kohawk Arena. The win moves Coe to 14-17 overall and 4-3 in the American Rivers Conference with just one game remaining in the regular season. Coe had three individuals record double-doubles in the match as Kate Tidman (26 kills & 16 digs), Madi Parson (19 kills & 14 digs) and Morgan Kluesner (15 kills & 11 digs) all reached the mark. Tidman's 26 kills move her into second place all-time in Coe's record books for most kills in a four-set match. 
 
Coe and Buena Vista played a competitive first set but the Kohawks edged the Beavers 25-23 to take a 1-0 advantage. Despite six errors, the Kohawks were able to sneak past BV in the opening set behind 14 kills. Coe's play improved in the second set, committing just three errors while hitting .421. The Beavers also limited their errors with just three but the Kohawks proved to be too strong, winning 25-16 to lead 2-0 after two sets. 
 
Buena Vista refused to roll over although it trailed 2-0 as the Beavers stormed back in the third set to win 25-23. BVU had 14 kills during the set while hitting .233. The fourth set was closely contested with the teams trading points but Coe found the breakthrough, winning 27-25 to secure its fourth conference victory of the season. 
 
Overall, Coe hit .250, its second-highest hitting-percentage during conference play. The Kohawks also had 68 assists, the highest total of the entire season. Elli Teeple had 59 of those assists, which is a new career-high for the Kohawk setter. She also moves into a tie for sixth place in Coe's record book for most assists in a four-set match. Teeple also had 18 digs. 
 
Next Up: The Kohawks return home for their final game of the regular season on October 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Kohawk Arena.
