Decatur, Ill. - The Kohawks kicked off a three game trip at Millikin Friday night, October 4th, against Alma College. The Kohawks made it a short stay in Decatur with a 3-0 win over the Scots. The trip continues tomorrow at Illinois College with games against Ripon and Illinois College.
The Kohawks were in complete control from the very start as they swept their way to a win over the Scots. In the first set they would lead from the start as they jumped out to a 7-0 lead. Coe continued to build on the opening run winning 25-17. Coe got tested early in set two as the Scots had leads early early but the Kohawks would seize control with a six point run turning a two point deficit into a four point lead. The Kohawks would dominate from their taking set two 25-14. Coe keep things rolling in set three jumping out to an early lead once again. Coe never trailed in set three as they held off a late run by the Scots for a 25-21 win to secure the sweep.
The Kohawks had a balanced attack on Friday hitting .302 as a team.
Morgan Kluesner led the way with 14 kills while freshmen
Madi Parson, 13, and
Kate Tidman, 10, joined her in double figures.
Elli Teeple spread the ball around with 42 assists. The defense was lead by
Majda Suljic with 13 digs. Kluesner and Teeple each added nine digs.
The Kohawks head to Jacksonville, Ill. tomorrow to conclude the three game trip. Coe will face Ripon College at 2 p.m. before taking on host Illinois College at 4 p.m.
