CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Junior Kohawk
Jamie Feldt led the Coe Women's Basketball Team to a 84-46 season-opening victory against Martin Luther College, Saturday afternoon at Kohawk Arena. The West Des Moines native, led the Kohawks in points (17), assists (4), steals (3), and blocks (1) in the win. Coe opens the year 1-0 overall.
The Kohawks led the entire game and closed the first quarter on a 27-10 run and added a 22-10 spurt before halftime to take a 49-20 lead. Coe shot 75% from the free-throw line in the firsrt half and gathered in 32 total rebounds en route to a 49-20 lead.
Coe entered the fourth quarter with a comfortable lead as Martin Luther continued to struggle offensively. Junior guard
Madeline Wilkins scored 7 points and posted her second three-pointer of the afternoon.
The team saw out the lead in the last quarter, shooting 40 percent from three-point range while adding 12 bench points to secure the victory. Martin Luther outscored Coe in the final frame 16-12 but the Kohawks outscored the Knights in the opening three periods.
Senior forward
Taylor Huber led Coe in rebounds (11), while the team recorded 50 rebounds in total. The Kohaws posted a 37.5 percent from the field and only recorded 10 turnovers during the contest. Coe was strong defensively, holding Martin Luther to just 29.4 percent from the floor and 15.0 percent from downtown.
Up Next: The Kohawks are back in Kohawk Arena on Tuesday, November 12, where the women will take on Wisconsin-La Crosse at 5:30 p.m.
