Kohawks split day two, finish the weekend 2-2 overall

St. Paul, Minn – The Kohawk volleyball team defeated Concordia College (Minn.) 3-1 before falling to Northwestern (Minn.) 3-1 to conclude their weekend trip at 2-2.
 
The Kohawks started the day with a four set win over Concordia College (Minn.). Coe and Concordia split the first two sets, 25-18 and 19-25. With the game tied the Kohawks won back to back sets, 25-19 and 25-22, to secure the win.
 
Junior Morgan Kluesner came up big with 17 kills to pace the Kohawk attack. The freshmen combination of Madi Parson and Kate Tidman continued their strong play with 11 and 15 kills respectively. With many options available Sophomore Elli Teeple disturbed the ball well with 40 assists.
 
The defense was just as strong as five Kohawks collected double digit digs led by Teeple who collected her third straight double-double with 23. Kluesner recorded her first double-double of the year with 16. Tidman had a double-double collecting 18 digs while Parson had her third straight double-double with 15. Sophomore Majda Suljic was the final Kohawk in double figures with 17 digs.  
 
Coe concluded the day with a four set loss to host school Northwestern (Minn.). The Eagles took a close opening set 23-25. After dropping the first set the Kohawks controlled set two to even things 1-1 with a 25-17 win. Coe couldn't hold on to that momentum as their comeback came up short in a 25-27 third set loss. The Eagles closed things out by winning the fourth set 25-18.
 
Kluesner continued to hit it well as she lead the team with 15 kills. Parson added 11 kills while Tidman got her second double-double of the day with 10 kills and 15 digs. Teeple ran her streak of double-doubles to four as she finished with 31 assists and 14 digs.
 
Coe will head home 2-2 after the weekend in St. Paul. They return to action at home on Wednesday night against rival Cornell. Start time is set for 7 p.m. inside Kohawk Arena.
