Kohawks wait out weather in home win

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Coe waited out an afternoon storm in a 3-0 win over Finlandia University. The victory runs the Kohawks record to 4-3.

The game started with sunny skies and clouds threatening in the distance. The game was scoreless through the first 20 minutes as the clouds rolled in. With the score still 0-0 the game was put on hold as the clouds quickly moved in on Clark Field bringing lightning and rain. The severe weather delayed the game for a little over 90 minutes.

Once the game was restarted it was the Kohawks doing the threatening as they put constant pressure on the Kings goal. Noah Decker broke through with his first goal of the season to put the Kohawks to 1-0 with less than ten minutes to play in the half. Michael Perez tallied his first goal of the year just before halftime scoring in the 45th minute.

Coe picked up right where they left off as they continued to attack in the second half. Andrew Burdick finished the scoring with a long-distance goal placed neatly over the keeps head for his sixth goal of the year.

Coe allowed only two shots on target making it a quiet afternoon for winning goalkeeper Connor Teget. The Kohawks had 12 shots on target as they possessed the ball for much of the game.

Coe will return to the pitch this Saturday as they host non-conference opponent Augustana. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at Clark Field.
