Women's Soccer Wins in Double Overtime

La Crosse, Wis. -- The Kohawks Women's Soccer team won in double overtime against UW-La Crosse, 2-1, Saturday afternoon.

In an offensive-heavy game that drew 9 shots on goal for the Kohawks, La Crosse struck first in the first half with an unassisted goal by defender Julia Smith.

Kohawk forward Sydney Schroder came back with a late second half goal to tie the game, 1-1, with an assist by midfielder, Mya Washburn, in 89th minute of play.

After a scoreless first overtime, forward/midfielder Jerica Bowler, was crowned the hero of the day after scoring her first goal of the season in double overtime in the 108th minute.

Goaltender, Alex Montalbano, earned the win and recorded a season high 10 saves for the game, bringing her season total to 38.

The Kohawks head back to Iowa for their next game against Cornell in Mount Vernon on Sept. 25th at 5:00pm. The game is the next chance for the Kohawks to earn a Bremner cup point.
