CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The #5 Coe College wrestling team fell 24-12 to #1 Wartburg in an action-packed dual on Thursday evening at Kohawk Arena. The nationally ranked dual was full of back and forth wrestling and featured two pins, one for each team. The Knights opened the dual with three-straight decisions to get out to an early 9-0 lead but a pin from
Josh Gerke got the Kohawks right back in the match. Wartburg then won back-to-back matches to retake control of the dual but
Tristin Westphal picked up a 3-2 victory to keep Coe alive in the contest. Wartburg's Kyle Briggs and
Josh Edel then went head-to-head, scraping back and forth but Briggs finally came up with a pin 3:24 into the bout to all but end Coe's chance in the dual.
Taylor Mehmen bounced back after his lone loss of the season last weekend, picking up a 3-1 victory over Kobe Woods to end the team scoring for the Kohawks.
