CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College Clay Target team hosted its second-annual benefit shoot for the VA Food Bank at the Izaak Walton of Linn County on Sunday morning. The event raised over $700 in entry fees and donations which will be turned into a check for the Food Bank, on behalf of the IWLLC and Coe Clay Target Team. One of the ways this money has been used in previous years is the Linn Co VA working closely with Sav-A-Lot Foods to prepare fresh meat bundles for veterans and their families.
There were a total of 18 participants, shooting a total of 36 rounds in the event. Bert Carmer posted the top score overall and earned the top prize of a prime rib while Bill Grams took second place and a ham prize.
Up next: The Clay Target team will return to regular-season action this weekend when it hosts Grand View University at the Otter Creek Sportsman's Club.
