CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's soccer team suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday morning at Clark Field. The Kohawks dominated most of the game, creating chances in the offensive end but the Prairie Wolves used a 36th minute goal to secure the victory. Coe won the statistical battle, registering two shots on goal in the match while earning three corners. The loss drops Coe to 2-11-1 overall and 1-4 in the A-R-C while Nebraska Wesleyan improves to 5-9 on the year and 2-4 in league play.

Match Facts

• The Kohawks dominated the opening 25 minutes of action, pressing the Prairie Wolves while controlling the possession. Coe's best chance of the opening half came in the 16th minute of the match as Ella Weber got on the end of a cross from Brianna Ellsworth but her shot rocked the crossbar and ricocheted away from the Prairie Wolves goal. 
• Nebraska Wesleyan began to get a hold of the game late in the first period as the Prairie Wolves recorded a shot in the 27th minute before finding the back of the net in the 36th minute as Sabrina Ochterbeck scored off an assist from Hannah Ghannam. 
• Coe started the second half well as Ella Weber registered a shot on target in the 52nd minute, forcing a save from the P-Wolve's keeper but she was up to the task and kept Coe off the board. The Kohawks registered two more shots over the final 20-plus minutes of action but a shot from Jordan Rosas was saved while Weber's second attempt sailed high in the 87th minute which proved to be Coe's last chance of the game. 

Up next: The Kohawks will be back in action on Wednesday, October 20 when they host Central College in an A-R-C matchup at 5 PM.
