CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to Central College on Wednesday evening at Clark Field. The Kohawks out shot the Dutch 11-8 and earned two corners compared to Central's two but the visitors scored a goal in the 12th minute and held on to secure the conference victory. The loss drops the Kohawks to 1-12-3 overall and 0-4-2 in the league while Central improves to 3-9-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the American Rivers Conference.

Match Facts:

• Central started the game on the front foot, earning a free-kick within the first few minutes of play. The Dutch then registered a pair of shots that missed the target before Jake Dzarnowski opened the scoring with a strike from inside the box. 
• The Kohawks responded well, immediately putting together back-to-back shot attempts in the 15th and 18th minute but the shots from Jay Ndayisenga and Diego Castellot missed high. The pressure continued from the Kohawks as they racked up three more shots before the end of the half but a shot on goal from Mark Corley was stopped by the Central keeper.
• Coe began the second half with a pair of shots early in the period, as Matthew Joseph and Castellot had shots blocked by the Central defense. The Kohawks continued to fight in the second half, registering shots in the 62nd, 84th and 88th minutes of the period but the final chance, which fell to Esaie Mososongo, missed the target. 

Up next: The Kohawks are back on the pitch on Saturday for a homecoming game against Simpson College at 7:30 PM.
