CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's soccer team suffered a defeat to Luther College on Wednesday evening at Clark Field, falling 4-1 to the Norse. Luther jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals in the 3rd and 7th minute while tallying in the 41st minute to hold a 3-0 lead at the break. The Norse extended their lead midway through the second period, converting a penalty kick to go up 4-0 on the Kohawks. Despite the deficit, Coe continued to fight, scoring late in the game as
Mackenzie Jones scored a beauty from 20-plus yards to give the Kohawks a tally on the board. The loss drops the Kohawks to 2-8-1 overall and 1-2 in the A-R-C while Luther improves to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in league play.

- The Norse took an early lead in the match, scoring from a long-throw in the 3rd minute to go up 1-0.
- Luther quickly made it 2-0 just four minutes later as Maggie Haller scored for the Norse in the 7th minute to give the visitors a 2-0 lead.
- The Coe defense began to grow into the game, keeping Luther scoreless for nearly 35 minutes as the Kohawks trailed 2-0 late in the period. The Norse finally added to the lead in the 41st minute as Maya Wosepka collected a loose ball and scored to make it 3-0.
- Coe continued to play solid defense for a large portion of the second half, keeping Luther off the board in the period until the Norse earned a penalty kick in the 70th minute which was dispatched by Maggie Haller putting Luther up 4-0.
- The Kohawks goal came late in the match off the boot of Jones who struck a one-time shot off a pass from Jordan Rosas who picked up her second assist of the season.
Up next: The Kohawks will be back in action on Saturday, October 9 when they travel to Dubuque for a matchup with UD scheduled for 3:30 PM.
