Game Facts
  • Coe and Westminster traded buckets early on in the first quarter but a 3 from Elle Walker put the Kohawks ahead 10-6 midway through the period. The Blue Jays tied the game at 10 with three minutes left in the first but the Kohawks ended the quarter with a 10-2 spurt which featured a pair of 3s from guard Molly Buck as the hosts led by eight after one quarter.
  • The lead quickly grew in the second quarter as the Kohawks pushed it to 16 with back-to-back 3s from Wisner who made it 34-18. Westminster refused to go away despite the large deficit, as it ended the half with a 10-4 spurt to cut Coe's lead to just seven at the break.
  • Westminster opened the second half with a layup inside the first 20 seconds to cut the lead to five but Coe responded in a big way, ripping off an 11-0 spurt which included two 3s from Makayla Walleser. The Blue Jays ended the run with a layup at the 4:31 mark of the period but Coe continued to dominate, outscoring the visitors 10-4 as the lead grew to 20 points with just 36 seconds left in the third quarter. Westminster managed to slightly lessen the blow in the final few moments of the quarter, converting a three-point play to make it 64-47.
  • The Kohawks scored the first four points of the final quarter, pushing the lead to 21 for their largest margin of the game. Westminster and Coe then traded points for the next few minutes of the contest but back-to-back buckets from Buck and Wisner put the contest out of reach as the Kohawks cruised to a home-opening victory.
Up next: Coe will return to the court tomorrow for its second game of the Coe College tournament as it faces Augustana at 4 PM at Kohawk Arena.
