WAVERLY, Iowa - The Coe College volleyball team swept Loras on Friday evening in the American Rivers Conference semifinal as the two-seeded Kohawks defeated the three-seeded Duhawks 25-12, 25-21 and 25-22. Coe was dominant offensively, attacking at a .313 efficiency while committing just eight attacking errors, its second-lowest total of the season. Defensively, the Kohawks had 70 digs and six total blocks, holding the Duhawks to a .160 attack percentage. The victory moves Coe into tomorrow's American Rivers Conference championship match where it will take on the winner of the second semifinal between top-seeded Wartburg and the fourth-seed Dubuque.
Coe was led by a trio of attackers in the match as
Madi Parson, Kate Tidman and
Grace Lueken finished with 12, 11 and 11 kills respectively. Freshman
Gracie Urbatsch added nine kills for Coe, joining her fellow middle, Lueken, with an attack percentage above .470 as the pair dominated for the Kohawks. Parson, who also had three service aces in the match, added nine digs and one block assist on defense.
Majda Suljic had another solid performance as the Kohawk libero, coming up with 17 digs on the defensive end while chipping in with six assists and one ace on offense.
Elli Teeple, the Coe setter, finished with 39 assists on the night while also adding two kills on a pair of well-timed dump sets.

- The Kohawks were on fire to start the match, attacking at a .389 clip while committing just two errors in the set. Coe, which had four service aces in the period, also held Loras to just .118 in the opening frame, forcing the number three seed into three attacking errors. Tidman and Parson led the team in the opening frame, recording five and four kills each while Lueken added three from the middle.
- Loras tested Coe in the second set, taking an early lead in the match while forcing a timeout as the Duhawks led 9-4. The Kohawks fought back from the deficit out of the timeout, scoring eight of the next 10 points to flip the script and retake a two-point lead at 13-11. Coe continued to dominate following a timeout from Loras, outscoring the Duhawks 7-3 over as the lead built to five. Loras searched for an answer with another timeout but Coe could not be stopped, finishing off the Duhawks 25-21 to take a 2-0 lead.
- The teams traded points early in the third set as the match was tied at nine before the Kohawks took control with a 6-2 run. The run, which forced the Duhawks to call time, featured four errors from Loras as Coe began to pull away. The Kohawks stretched the lead to 20-12 after the break but the Duhawks clawed back and scored three straight to force DeAnn Akins into a quick timeout. Loras continued to fight after the pause, cutting the deficit to just two points after scoring six in a row. The Kohawks clinched the 25-22 victory on an attacking error from Loras as Coe managed to survive the late comeback attempt.
