STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Coe College women's volleyball team swept Buena Vista 3-0 on Saturday afternoon, handing the Beavers their first loss of the season. The Kohawks won the opening set 25-19 before a dominant set two in which they won 25-15. Coe then made it a clean sweep with a 25-13 victory in the final set of the match. The result moves to the Kohawks 2-1 overall while Buena Vista falls to 2-1 overall.

The Kohawks were led by Kate Tidman, who recorded 12 kills and just three errors while hitting .409. Morgan Kluesner and Madi Parson each added eight kills as both Kohawks hit over .350 on the day while committing just one combined error. Settor Elli Teeple recorded 27 assists and three digs on the day while libero Majda Suljic recorded 18 digs and two service aces. Bryce Klein added seven kills for Coe and was a perfect 7-of-7 on her attempts.

Coe got off to a strong start in the opening set, taking an early 4-1 lead in the match. The Beavers clawed back over the next few points and got within two points of the Kohawk lead at 12-10 but Coe then outscored BVU 13-9 to secure the first set. The Kohawks hit .359 in the first set while recording three blocks.

Buena Vista and Coe traded blows in the first few points but the Kohawks used an 8-3 spurt to take control of set two at 12-5. The Beavers continued to fight despite the large deficit, cutting the lead to three prior to another Kohawk run which saw them take a 21-12 lead. The Beavers stopped the bleeding thanks to a Kohawk error but Coach Akins' squad scored four of the final six points of the set to take a commanding 2-0 advantage.

Again the squads traded points to begin set three as the score was tied at 4-4. Coe then flexed its muscle and put together a 15-3 run to put the third set out of reach for BVU. In the third, Coe recorded 14 kills while hitting a staggering .500.
