Men's Tennis Travels to Cornell, Nebraska Wesleyan

This Week:
Coe Men's Tennis will play its first road matches of the season. The Kohawks will take on Cornell College in Mt. Vernon on Wednesday (4 p.m.), followed by a contest against conference foe Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE at the LSF Sports Complex on Saturday (10 a.m.).

On Coe:
The Kohawks are 8-0 (3-0) during the 2021 campaign led by a group of juniors in Rami Hemaidan, Jon Lansing, Nathan Meskell & Bo Wilson. Coe's doubles team of Lansing and Meskell are unbeaten this spring (7-0) at the number two doubles slot.
 
Cornell Breakdown:
  • The Rams are 5-3 overall. Cornell won its last match this past weekend against Milwaukee School of Engineering (5-4) at home.
  • Alexander Hadler paces the Rams in singles play with an 8-1 mark primarily at the number two and three spots.
  • Coe is 10-0 against Cornell dating back to 2009. The Kohawks won the last meeting (9-0) on 2/9/2019 at the CRC.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan Breakdown:
  • The Prairie Wolves are 1-1 overall, (1-1 in A-R-C). NWU opened their spring season this past weekend splitting their matches at home against University of Dubuque (9-0) and Loras College (2-7)
  • Freshman Ryan Carey leads the Prairie Wolves at the top singles and doubles spots. Carey opened his first college spring season with a 4-0 record against Dubuque and Loras.
  • Coe is 3-0 against NWU dating back to 2016 when the Prairie Wolves joined the A-R-C. The Kohawks won the last meeting (9-0) on 3/30/2019 at the CRC.
 
Defending Home Court:
Coe has won its first eight home matches of the 2021 season. The Kohawks have won 19 of their last 20 matches at the Clark Racquet Center dating back to March, 2019.
 
Kohawk Notables:
  • Jon Lansing, Nathan Meskell and Bo Wilson each lead the way with a team best 7-1 record in singles play.
  • Jon Lansing and Nathan Meskell remain undefeated on the doubles court at 7-0 this spring at the number two spot.
  • Rami Hemaidan leads the current roster with 69 career wins. Hemaidan in 2019 garnered 27 doubles wins which sits tied for eighth among single season total doubles wins.
 
Head Coach Eric Rodgers:
Eric Rodgers is in his 32nd year as Head Coach of the Coe Men's Tennis program. Rodgers was also the Head Coach of the Women's program until the summer of 2014. Rodgers currently holds 812 career wins at Coe, and has led 17 Coe Men's teams to regular season conference championships, 13 conference tournament championships & 13 NCAA Team Tournament appearances.
