LINCOLN, Ne. - The Coe College women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon at Abel Stadium. The Kohawks took an early lead thanks to a goal from Sydney Schroder but the Prairie Wolves scored in the 38th minute to tie the score before the break. NWU scored two more in the second half, striking in the 82nd and 84th minute of the period to secure the victory. The loss drops the Kohawks to 0-2 overall and in the A-R-C while the Prairie Wolves move to 1-1 on the season and in the league. 
 
Schroder opened her tally with an individual goal in the 16th minute of the game, which was her and Coe's second shot of the contest. After 20-plus minutes of scoreless action Nebraska Wesleyan evened the score thanks to a goal from Kaeding Rassfeld. Neither team recorded a shot before the end of the first half as the teams were tied at one at the break.
 
The Kohawks started strong in the second period, as Schroder hit the woodwork in the 50th minute, just missing out on her second goal of the evening. NWU then had a strong spell that lasted nearly 10 minutes, during which the Prairie Wolves recorded two shots. Samantha Eyers then forced a save from NWU keeper Leslie Borges in the 66th minute but Borges made the stop to keep it tied at one. The Prairie Wolves broke through in the 82nd minute on a goal from Lauren Keith which proved to be the winner as they would add insurance in the 84th minute to lock up the win. 
 
Up next: Coe will return to Cedar Rapids for the first time in its 2021 spring campaign on Saturday, April 3 when it hosts Wartburg College at 4:00 p.m.
