CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's soccer team dropped its home opener on Saturday evening to Wartburg, falling 3-0 at Clark Field. The Kohawks and Knights played a scoreless opening ten minutes but Wartburg scored two goals before the halftime break to take the momentum into the locker room. Coe's best chance came in the 54th minute of the game from
Isabella Dubon, as she hit the left post and just missed out on the equalizer. The loss drops the Kohawks to 0-3 overall and in the A-R-C while Wartburg improves to 3-0 overall and in the A-R-C.
The Kohawks played tight with the Knights in the opening moments of the game but Wartburg missed an early penalty chance to keep the score tied. The Knights broke through in the 13th minute of the game and added another in the 18th minute to take a 2-0 lead into the break. The Kohawks defense was strong in the second half, keeping the Knights off the scoreboard until the 80th minute when Rachel Gavin ended the scoring.
Up next: Coe will be back on the pitch on Wednesday evening when it travels to face Luther at 5:00 p.m.
