CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's soccer lost to Loras College on Friday evening at Clark Field, falling 9-1 to the Duhawks. Loras took an early lead after scoring in the second minute of the game and took advantage of a man-advantage to lock up the victory. The Kohawks drop to 0-6 overall and in the A-R-C while the Duhawks improve to 5-0-2 on the year and in the league.
Loras scored first, using a long throw in to put the ball in the box as it found the foot of Patrick Clancy who tallied the opener. Coe got its first shot in the game in the ninth minute of action as
Mac Buckley saw his attempt just miss the Duhawk goal. Clancy then bagged his second of the evening, striking in the 14th to make it 2-0. The Kohawks refused to go away, despite going down to 10 men in the 11th minute as
Connor Fitch earned a penalty after beating the Duhawk keeper to a loose ball.
Zachary Mooney then stepped up for the Kohawks and delivered from the spot, notching his first goal of the season. Loras began to take advantage of the extra space on the pitch in the final 25-minutes of the half, scoring four goals before the break to regain control of the game. Loras scored twice in the opening five minutes of the second half to grab a lead which it held for the remainder of the game.
