Kohawks to Wrap Up Regular Season

This Week:
Coe Men's Tennis wraps up their regular season with two American Rivers Conference matches this week. The Kohawks will take on Loras College at home on Thursday at 3:30pm and then conclude the regular season in a showdown with rival Luther College on Saturday at 1pm.

On Coe:
The Kohawks are 12-3 (6-0 A-R-C) during the 2021 campaign led by a group of juniors in Rami Hemaidan, Jon Lansing, Nathan Meskell & Bo Wilson. Coe enters the week with a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play to sit at the top of the standings.  
 
Loras Breakdown:
  • The Duhawks are 8-3 overall (3-0 A-R-C) and currently ride a six match win streak. Loras most recently beat the University of Dubuque 9-0 at home last weekend
  • Eian Coad leads the Duhawks with a team best 10 wins on the singles court while the duo of Kevin Blomquist and Thomas Kampmier own the best doubles record for Loras at 8-2 at the number one spot
  • In the last meeting, Coe won 5-0 on a neutral court in April of 2019
 
Luther Breakdown:
  • The Norse are 7-4 overall (4-0 A-R-C). Luther lost their most recent match on the road at Carleton 4-5.
  • Nyathi Motlojoa paces the Norse on the singles court with a team best 7 wins at the number one and two spots respectively in dual meets this year. Motlojoa and partner Cole Schneider lead Luther on the doubles court with a 7-2 record on court one.
  • Coe and Luther have won the regular season conference title and conference tournament title dating back to 2001. Luther took the last matchup 5-2 in Cedar Rapids in the conference tournament final back in 2019.
 
Defending Home Court:
The Kohawks have won 19 of their last 21 matches at the Clark Racquet Center dating back to March, 2019.
 
Kohawk Notables:
  • Wilson leads the way with a team best 13-2 record in singles play.
  • Wilson and Hemaidan pace the Kohawks on the doubles court with a team best 13-2 record at the number one spot.
  • Hemaidan leads the current roster with 80 career wins. Hemaidan in 2019 garnered 27 doubles wins which sits tied for eighth among single season total doubles wins.
 
Head Coach Eric Rodgers:
Eric Rodgers is in his 32nd year as Head Coach of the Coe Men's Tennis program. Rodgers was also the Head Coach of the Women's program until the summer of 2014. Rodgers currently holds 816 career wins at Coe, and has led 17 Coe Men's teams to regular season conference championships, 13 conference tournament championships & 13 NCAA Team Tournament appearances.
