Men's Tennis Drops First Match of the Season

PEORIA, IL – The Coe College Men's Tennis team dropped their first match of the 2021 spring campaign 3-6 to Principia College. The Kohawks drop to 10-1 (4-0 A-R-C) on the year while the Panthers improved to 6-2.
 
Jon Lansing & Nathan Meskell kept their perfect record intact on the doubles court this season winning their tenth straight match at the number two spot 8-3. Principia quickly struck back to record their first point of the meet with an 8-3 win at number one. The Panthers then took the lead heading into singles play with an 8-6 win at number three.
 
Bo Wilson started singles play off strong with a quick 6-2, 6-1 win at number four and extended his win streak to nine straight. The Panthers stretched their lead to 4-2 with straight set wins at number one and three. Jordan Oaks provided the third point for the Kohawks at number five claiming a decisive 6-2, 6-0 victory. Principia clinched the meet at number three with a marathon third set victory and finished out the day with a super tiebreak win at number six. 
 
"Being on the short end of the score isn't fun, but it does present us with opportunities to grow as a team," said Head Coach Eric Rodgers. "Kudos to Principia for playing well today, we are grateful to have had the chance to compete with them. I am excited to get back to work this week in preparation for our next matches."
