Men’s Soccer Suffers 2-0 Defeat at Luther College

DECORAH, Iowa - The Coe College men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Luther College as the Norse converted two spot kicks en route to the victory. The Kohawks, who are the first team to keep the Norse scoreless from open play this season, fall to 0-4 overall and in the A-R-C while the Norse improve to 2-0-1 on the season and in the league. Coe and Luther played a scoreless opening 30-minutes in the first half but a penalty was awarded to Luther in the 31st minute which allowed the Norse to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

Luther opened the second half with a trio of shots but Isaac Keppler, who replaced Brayden Koch after injury, was up to the task and kept the score 1-0. The Kohawks then had a strong period of play, during which they recorded two shots, one from Matthew Joseph and one from Mac Buckley. The second goal for the Norse also came from the penalty spot as they awarded another chance in the 67th minute which Marcos Vila slotted home to end the scoring.

Up next: Coe will be back at Clark Field on Saturday evening when it hosts the Cornell College Rams in the home leg of a two-game tie with the local rival.
