MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Coe College women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat at Cornell College on Saturday afternoon in a Bremner Cup Match. The Kohawks and Rams played a scoreless opening half but goals in the 47th and 73rd minutes gave the Rams the goals needed to knock off the Kohawks. Coe forced three saves in the first half and one in the second half but the Cornell keeper managed to keep the clean sheet. The loss drops Coe to 1-5-1 on the year while Cornell improves to 2-4 overall.

•  The Kohawks had the game's opening shot as Isa Partain fired an attempt on net but Elise Thomason-Larsen made the early save to keep Coe off the board. Ella Weber then forced another save in the 14th minute as her shot attempt was too close to the Ram keeper who easily made the stop. 
• Coe keeper Alex Montalbano was called into action in the 18th minute as she made a save on a shot attempt from Sanne Croes. She made three more saves in the period, stopping shots in the 32nd, 35th and 41st minute as Montalbano came up big for the Kohawks. 
• Lauren Dufoe registered Coe's final shot of the half in the 36th minute but her attempt was saved.
• The Rams jumped in front immediately in the second half, scoring in the 47th minute off the boot of Kylie Hard. Cornell continued to stay on the front foot for the next 20-plus minutes, adding another to its tally in the 73rd minute as Maddalin Doran doubled the Ram lead. 
• Coe managed a shot on target as Jordan Rosas fired one on net in the 77th minute but again Thomason-Larsen kept it out of her net to clinch the clean sheet. 

Up next: The squad will be back on the pitch on Wednesday, September 22 when it hosts Gustavus Adolphus at Clark Field at 7 p.m.
