ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Coe College volleyball team earned a pair of non-conference victories on Friday evening to open its 2021 Fall season. The Kohawks turned in a dominant performance on the first day of the Macalester Invitational, sweeping both Concordia and Bethany Lutheran 3-0. Kate Tidman and Gracie Urbatsch headlined the opening match, posting 18 kills and 13 kills respectively while Elli Teeple added 37 assists. The Kohawks dominated in match two, holding the Vikings to under 18 points in all three sets. Madi Parson dominated the match, recording her first double-double of the season with Tidman and Grace Lueken adding 12 and seven kills each.
Match One - Coe 3 - Concordia 0: 25-23, 25-20 & 25-19
Match Facts
- The Kohawks committed just four errors in set one compared to nine from the Cobbers.
- Tidman's 18 kills in set one are just three shy of her own school record set in 2019 against Webster. She also added 11 digs for her first double-double of the season.
- Concordia-Moorehead hit just .149 as a team with Coe holding it to .061 in set two.
- Coe hit .242 as a team, including .304 in set two where it committed just three errors.
- Despite not reaching the minimum attempt mark (20), Urbatsch's hitting percentage of .722 was the Kohawks best performance since Lueken hit .684 against Luther last season.
Match Two - Coe 3 - Bethany Lutheran 0: 25-16, 25-12 & 25-17

- Coe held Bethany Lutheran to seven kills in the opening set while racking up 17 kills and hitting .333. The Kohawks are now 6-0 all-time against Bethany Lutheran, dropping only two sets in the series.
- Parson led the charge for Coe, posting a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs. The junior outside hitter added two service aces and hit .417.
- The Kohawks held the Vikings to a .040 hitting percentage for the match and forced 19 attacking errors.
- Coe posted a team percentage of .340, converting 45 kills on 97 total attacks. Five Kohawk players had five-plus kills in the match.
- It is the first time since 2017 that Coe has started a season 2-0. The 2017 Kohawks opened the campaign with a pair of wins against Northland College and St. Norbert College.
