MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Coe College men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Cornell College on Monday evening in the away leg of the Bremner Cup Matches. The Kohawks and Rams were scoreless late into the first half but in the 37th minute, an attempt that hit both posts and just cleared the goal line gave the hosts the lead for good. Coe continued to battle in the second half but was unable to find a pass in the final third to provide a solid chance. Matthew Joseph had the Kohawks best chance of the game when his corner kick floated on the Cornell keeper and forced him into a sprawling save. The loss drops Coe to 0-2 on the year while Cornell moves to 1-1. 
 
Match Facts:

• Cornell and Coe played a scoreless opening 35 minutes of action with the Rams recording the only shots in the match.
• The Rams got on the board with just under ten minutes left in the first half, as Zach Miller's shot bounced off both posts and crossed the goal line. 
• Coe began to grow into the game early in the second half, earning three corners in the first 20 minutes.
• Joseph's corner kick in the 65th was whipped into the box with pace, forcing the Cornell keeper to retreat and make a flailing save to keep the game level. 
• Mac Buckley had Coe's final chance of the game on a floated ball into the box, trying to direct a header toward the goal but his attempt sailed high. 

Up next: Coe will return to the pitch on Wednesday evening when it hosts Augustana College at 7:00 p.m. at Clark Field.
