MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Coe College volleyball team saw its comeback effort fall just short at Cornell College on Wednesday evening. The Kohawks, who fell behind 2-0 after the opening two sets, fought back to force a decisive fifth set. In the final set, Coe led 10-7 but Cornell ripped off five straight points to regain control of the match. The loss drops the Kohawks to 3-2 overall while the Rams improve to 4-1 on the year.

- The Kohawks hit just .116 in the opening set, committing seven errors while the Rams posted a percentage of .225 with just four errors.
- Cornell dominated set two, hitting .375 while racking up 15 kills and only three errors. Coe again struggled offensively, swinging at a .182 clip while committing five errors.
- Despite a negative hitting percentage in the third set, the Kohawks bounced back, forcing nine Ram errors compared to just seven kills.
- Coe won the fourth set thanks to a game-high 13 kills while Cornell racked up seven errors on just .19 hitting percentage.
- Both squads were on fire in the final set but the Rams used a five-point run in the final few rallies of the game to secure the victory.
- Madi Parson led the team with five service aces, which is just three shy of tying the school record which was set in 2001.
- Elli Teeple recorded her second double-double of the season, finishing the match with 42 assists and 21 digs.
Up next: The Kohawks will play their home opener on Friday evening when they welcome UW-River Falls to Kohawk Arena at 6 p.m.
