LOUISVILLE, KY. - The top-ranked Coe College wrestling team went 2-1 on Thursday at the opening day of the NWCA National Duals. The Kohawks, who entered the tournament as the top seed, defeated Mount St. Joseph in the opening round 27-16 before falling to RIT 27-15 in the quarter-finals. Coe bounced back in the evening's consolation bracket, defeating Adrian 30-19 to stay alive in the race for fifth place overall. The Kohawks will take on Baldwin Wallace tomorrow morning at 9 am in hopes of advancing to the fifth-place match.
Coe was led by
Kaleb Reeves who was 2-0 on the day, picking up a pair of pins over his opponents from RIT and Adrian to remain undefeated on the season. The senior heavyweight pinned Calik Kennedy of RIT in just 39 seconds in the Kohawks' second match while pinning Isaiah Espinoza from Adrian in 2:19.
Dylan Falck also went 2-0 on the day at 149, pinning Vernell Hawkins of Mount St. Joseph while earning a 9-3 decision over Jacob Colbart from Adrian.
