DECORAH, Iowa - The Coe College football team won its third-straight game on Saturday afternoon, cruising past Luther for a 56-10 victory. The Kohawks scored 14 points in all four quarters, eclipsing the 50-point mark for the second time this season while holding their opponent to 10 points or less for the third time in 2022.
Carter Maske got his second-straight start under center for the Kohawks, racking up 192 yards and four touchdowns in the victory.
Ray Seidel added 103 yards on the ground while the offense rushed for four more scores. Defensively, Coe forced three turnovers, two interceptions and one fumble. The defense held Luther to just 187 total yards in the game, including 46 yards on the ground.
Alex Aitchison had a pair of sacks and a forced fumble while
Ben Ridenour and
Bridger Aucutt came up with the two picks. The victory moves the Kohawks to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the league while Luther drops to 1-5 and 1-3 in the A-R-C.
GAME FACTS:
COE 56 - LUTHER 10
- Carter Maske turned in another solid outing, completing 20 of 32 passes for 192 yards and four touchdowns. Despite two interceptions, Maske managed the game well and hooked up with numerous receivers throughout the day.
- Ray Seidel was efficient on the ground for the Kohawks, rushing 18 times for 103 yards and one score. The running attack was helped out by Trenton Barnes and Jacob Brecht who handled the remainder of the work, combining for 112 yards on 23 carries. Each back scampered for a touchdown including a 14-yard burst from Brecht for his first collegiate touchdown.
- Dominic Shepardson was the leading receiver for the balanced attack of Coe, hauling in eight passes for 90 yards and one touchdown, the eighth of his career. Freshman Zamari Bruce caught just one pass on the afternoon but he made it count, pulling in an 11-yard touchdown reception for his fourth score of the season.
- Alex Aitchision, who also tied the team-high with six tackles, forced and recovered a fumble on the first drive of the game. Ridenour also turned in sack tackles for the defense and picked off one pass and had a pass breakup. Overall, the defense allowed only surrendered 46 yards on 30 carries and 141 passing yards on 22 attempts.
Up next: The Kohawks are back in action next Saturday for Homecoming, hosting Dubuque at 1 PM on October 15.
