CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College football team suffered its first conference defeat on Saturday afternoon at Clark Field, falling 15-14 to the University of Dubuque. Both offenses struggled throughout the day, combining for just 531 total yards and 29 points. UD took a 10-0 lead in the second quarter but the hosts scored to make it a three-point game at the break. The Kohawks scored on their third drive of the second half to take their first lead, putting together an impressive scoring drive that lasted 10 plays and just under four minutes. Dubuque trailed entering the final quarter but scored five points in the fourth period to secure the win. The game-winning safety came after a change of possession inside Coe's five as the hosts were penalized for holding in the end zone, resulting in two points for UD. The loss drops Coe to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the A-R-C while Dubuque improves to 4-3 and 4-1 in the conference play.

DUBUQUE 15 - COE 14
- Carter Maske was 14-of-32 passing, racking up 149 yards and one touchdown. His long strike of the day came on a conncetion with freshman Zamari Bruce.
- Ray Seidel continued his excellent season as the main ball carrier for the Kohawks, carrying the ball 29 times for 108 yards and one touchdown. Jarin Sanders added three carries for Coe, recording 18 yards along the way.
- Dominic Shepardson paced the Kohawk receivers, hauling in eight passes for a team-high 87 yards. The senior reeled in his eighth-career touchdown catch and is just 31-yards shy of 1,300 for his career. Amel Saric was second on the team with three catches, gaining 14 yards.
- Jack Shaw was the leading tackler for the Kohawk defense, tallying eight stops and one tackle for loss on the day. LaDainian Linnear was next in line, piling up seven tackles with five solo stops. Darrius Saunders had a pair of tackles for loss in the defeat, racking up five total tackles for Coe.
Up next: The Kohawks are back in action next Saturday, hitting the road to take on Loras College on October 22 at 1 PM.
