STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Coe College Football team won its third straight American Rivers Conference game on Saturday at Buena Vista, defeating the host Beavers 42-9. The Kohawks raced out to an early lead in the first quarter with a pair of
Quincy Drummer touchdowns, giving the visitors a 14-3 lead. Coe added two more touchdowns in the second quarter on a 48-yard reception from
Cayden Schultz and a five-yard plunge from Drummer, who capped off another explosive first half as the Kohawks led 28-3.
Luke Smith started the scoring in the second half, capping off a long drive from Coe that started in the third and ended with a three-yard rushing touchdown from the Kohawks' second QB. After a 24-yard touchdown pass from Buena Vista, the Kohawks capped the victory with one final score as
Uchenna Uduji-John sprinted for a 32-yard score. In total, Coe ran for 330 yards and four touchdowns, with Drummer rushing for 133 yards on just seven carries.
Brady Kelly completed six-of-seven passes in the victory for 88 yards and two scores, with Schultz leading the receiving efforts on his one big catch.

- The Coe defense stood tall on the opening drive, stuffing the Beavers on a third-down try to hand the ball to the offense. The Kohawks quickly went ahead, getting another big play from Drummer as he left the defense in his dust with a 63-yard score. BVU answered with a nice scoring drive of its own, stalling out at Coe's 10 before settling for a 28-yard field goal. Kelly and Drummer extended the lead on Coe's next drive, connecting for a five-yard score after Drummer used his legs to get Coe in scoring territory. A fumble recovery by Coe's defense set up another early second-quarter score for the Kohawks, with Kelly hitting Schultz on a deep strike down the left sideline for 21-3. Coe all but iced the game with another score in the final moments of the second quarter as a sack from Tidwell gave the offense excellent field position. Drummer cashed in for his third score of the half with 18 seconds to play, plunging in from five yards out for 28-3. A fumble from Coe on its first drive gave the Beavers life, but the hosts again stalled out, failing on a fourth-and-six try at Coe's six-yard line. The Kohawks took advantage of the stout defense and put the game on ice, going 95 yards over 14 plays before Smith cashed in from three yards out. BVU scored a consolation touchdown on their next offensive possession, making it 35-9 with a 24-yard TD pass and a missed extra point. Uduji-John capped the win in style late in the fourth, ripping off a 32-yard score on third and 11 to seal the victory.
