CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College Football team made it back-to-back American Rivers Conference victories on Saturday, cruising past the Central College Dutch 31-14 at Clark Field. GAME FACTS:
COE 31 - CENTRAL 14
- Central's opening drive was promising, moving into Coe's territory before a fourth-and-long chance ended with a sack fumble from Isaac Stevens, recovered by Johnson. Drummer went to the house two plays later, busting a 70-yard sprint to the end zone to give Coe the early lead. A three and out from Central returned the ball to Coe's offense, taking over at the 26. Coe marched down the field with relative ease as Brady Kelly connected with Martinez for a 38-yard pass to spark the drive on third and seven. Smith finished off the drive at quarterback, momentarily slipping on a fourth and one play before acrobatically tossing the ball into the back of the endzone for a wide open Hartl. Coe was forced to settle for a field goal on its best drive of the second quarter, stalling out at the Central 11 before Collett booted the 28-yarder for 17-0. A Coe turnover in the third quarter set Central up to start its comeback, taking over at the Kohawk 43 after a lost fumble. The Dutch answered, getting a 21-yard score to cut into the deficit. Coe's offense answered right away, putting together a 75-yard drive over 10 plays. Drummer did most of the damage, rushing for 34 yards on the drive including a three-yard score to extend the lead back to 24-6. A big play early in the fourth quarter gave Central life again, connecting on an 84-yard touchdown pass that brought the Dutch within 11 at 24-13. White and the offense polished off the victory in style on Coe's final drive of the game, using over eight minutes of clock during a 12-play, 65-yard drive that was finished off with another rushing touchdown.
