PELLA, Iowa - The #20 Coe College volleyball team picked up a pair of American Rivers Conference victories over the weekend, defeating Simpson 3-1 on Friday evening before knocking off Central 3-1. The Kohawks dominated the Storm in the opening match of the weekend, hitting .246 while forcing the opposition into 31 errors.
Madi Parson had a team-high 15 kills in the match and finished with an impressive .484 attacking percentage. Coe had another dominant showing in the victory over Central, posting a .259 hitting percentage with 61 kills.
Grace Lueken led the team with 17 kills in the match and hit .516, committing only one error in 31 attempts.
Maggie Furlong also had a solid game, adding 13 kills while hitting .304. The wins move the Kohawks to 17-4 overall and 4-0 in the A-R-C while Simpson and Central move to 11-9 and 2-2 and 4-11 and 0-4 respectively.

- Coe edged Simpson in the opening set by a narrow score of 25-23. The Kohawks hit just .125 in the frame but scored four of the final five points to escape with a win. Coe got three kills from Parson, Furlong and Lueken in the period and 11 assists from Maddy Maahs.
- The Storm battled back in the second set, scrapping out a 25-22 victory to square the match. The hosts racked up 18 kills in the set and held the Kohawks to only 11 en route to the victory.
- Coe responded in the third and fourth sets, securing the victory with a 25-16 win in the third and a 25-18 decision in the fourth. Coe hit .276 in the third set and outlasted Simpson which kept it close for a large part of the frame. The Kohawks ended the period with a dominant run, scoring 11 of the final 13 points. Coe kept up the pressure in the fourth set, hitting .364 while forcing Simpson into eight errors. The Kohawks and Storm played a tight set until late on when again Coe ended the match with a dominant 5-1 spurt.

- The Kohawks stayed hot on offense in their second match of the weekend, posting a .259 hitting percentage. Coe jumped ahead with a 25-21 victory in the opening set, getting three kills from Parson, Furlong, Tidman, Maahs and Rachael Kilpatrick.
- Coe was dominant in the second set, cruising to a 25-9 victory to go up 2-0. The Kohawks raced out to a 7-2 lead and continued to build the margin en route to the win. Furlong and Tidman dominated the period, posting four kills each.
- The visitors went for the sweep in the third period, taking an early lead. Central refused to quit, battling back to tie the match at 20-20. The Dutch stayed alive in the match, scoring the final two points of the period to force a fourth set.
- Coe got back to business in the fourth and final frame, earning a 25-17 decision to knock off Central. Lueken was unstoppable in the period, racking up eight kills in 11 attempts. Tidman and Parson chipped in with three kills while Maahs had 14 assists.
Up next: Coe returns to the court on Tuesday, October 18 for a neutral site match against Northwestern (MN) in Waverly at 6 PM.
