CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The #21 Coe College Volleyball team advanced to the A-R-C Championship match with a dramatic 3-2 victory over the University of Dubuque on Thursday evening. Coe, which entered the contest as the top seed in the tournament, battled all match with the fourth-seed Dubuque, trading set victories in the first four periods. The Kohawks then rallied in the fifth and decisive set, erasing an early 2-0 deficit to claim a 15-9 win to advance to the championship.
Madi Parson led the Kohawk attack with a season-high 21 kills while adding 22 digs for the double-double.
Kate Tidman was second on the team, posting 14 kills while adding one service ace. Freshman
Maggie Furlong was key down the stretch and finished third on the team with 12 kills and an attack percentage of. 241.
Maddy Maahs directed the offense and racked up 50 assists for the Kohawks while
Ella Koloc had a team-high 29 digs and zero receiving errors.

#21 COE 3 - DUBUQUE 2
- The Kohawks dominated the opening set, racking up 12 kills in the opening frame while forcing the Spartans into seven attacking errors. The hosts built a quick lead, taking a 6-2 advantage but the Spartans clawed back to tie it at eight. The Kohawks and Spartans went point-for-point during the next few rallies but the Kohawks got a two-point stretch on a pair of UD errors. Coe put its foot to the gas in the final moments, scoring seven of the final 10 points to take set one 25-19.
- Dubuque answered in set two, claiming a back-and-forth frame 25-23 to knot the match at two. The Spartans led early with an 11-9 advantage but the Kohawks used a timeout to stop the momentum. Coe scored five straight following the break, taking a 14-11 lead while forcing UD to call time. The teams traded points out of the timeout but UD stayed in touching distance with a three-point run. Dubuque tied the match with a strong close to the second period, outscoring Coe 8-5 to earn a 25-23 victory.
- Set three featured a strong start from the hosts, building a 7-2 lead in the early moments of the frame. UD immediately responded, ripping off a 10-7 run to pull within one point at 13-12. Coe called timeout to stop the momentum but UD continued to roll, scoring five consecutive to grab a 17-13 lead and force a timeout from the hosts. The Kohawks picked up their game following the break, outscoring the Spartans 9-3 to flip the score and grab a 22-20 lead. Coe continued to dominate after the timeout, scoring three of the final four points to earn a 25-21 victory.
- UD again responded in the fourth set, putting on a dominant performance to earn a 25-17 win and force a fifth frame. The Spartans and Kohawks traded points early but UD used a 6-3 run in order to take a 14-11 lead. Coe continued to battle for the remainder of the set but Dubuque stayed hot and took the set 25-17 to force a fifth.
- Coe fell behind immediately in the fifth period, seeing Dubuque score the first two points of the set. The Kohawks answered, ripping off five-straight points to regain the momentum and a 5-2 lead. The visitors showed no panic despite losing their lead, answering with a strong push to square the game at seven. The Kohawks then brought the heat for the final few points, ending the match on an 8-2 run to earn a 15-9 victory while advancing to the final.
Up next: The Kohawks will host the A-R-C Championship match on Saturday, November 5 at 7 PM at Kohawk Arena, hosting the third-seed Buena Vista.
