Women’s Basketball Pushes Loras to Final Moments of Fourth Quarter in 58-53 Defeat

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Coe College women's basketball team suffered a 58-53 defeat to Loras on Wednesday evening, seeing the Duhawks end the game on a 16-5 run to pull off the victory. Coe trailed early in its first A-R-C road game of the year, falling behind 18-13 in the opening quarter after the hosts shot 7-of-12 from the floor. Coe battled back from a nine-point deficit in the second period and closed the gap to five before the end of the half. The Kohawks then dominated the third quarter, largely in part to their defense, holding Loras to four points and 2-of-13 shooting. The visitors then built a seven-point lead early in the fourth quarter, getting a pair of 3s from Ellie Wisner but Loras dominated the final five minutes of the game and pulled off the late comeback. Wisner was the leading scorer for Coe, posting a season-high 21 points while Kaalyn Petersen posted 20 points and nine boards. The loss drops Coe to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the league while Loras improves to 4-1 on the year and 2-0 in the A-R-C.
