GRINNELL, Iowa - The Coe College men's track and field team opened its 2022-23 indoor season on Friday evening, competing at the Grinnell Opener. Overall, the Kohawk men took home seven event titles and saw numerous athletes set personal bests.
Paul Cory had a standout performance earning three podium finishes in the 300 M Dash, High Jump and Long Jump. Cory, who took home the top spot in the 300 dash and the high jump, set a new top-10 mark in the 300 M dash with his time of 37.16 and set a new personal best in the high jump with a leap of 1.90M.
Chris Baker also had an excellent start to his season, earning a pair of podium finishes as he took the top spot in the Shot Put and second in the Weight Throw.
Cole Kirkham,
Gad Kanago, Coe Booker and
Keyondrae Wilkerson also picked up individual victories for the Kohwawks, bringing their total to six for the meet. Kanago, who won the 1 Mile Run, and Booker, who took the top spot in the 3000 M Run, both posted new personal bests marks with times of 4:57.59 and 9:09.49. Wilkerson recorded a jump of 12.21 meters in the triple jump to claim the title, posting a new indoor best en route to the top spot.
