STORM LAKE, Iowa - The #16 Coe College Wrestling team picked up its first dual victory of the season on Thursday evening, dominating Buena Vista in a 47-3 decision. The Kohawks got bonus points from eight wrestlers in the victory including five wins by fall. Coe's lone loss in the match came at 125 to start the evening but the squad answered in a resounding way for the remainder of the contest.
Alex Friddle shut out his opponent and earned a tech fall at 133 with a 15-0 victory in just 3:20 while
Bryce Parke secured a major decision at 141 with a 12-4 win.
Dylan Grigsby then earned another tech fall for Coe at 149, getting an 18-0 shutout in 4:44.
Dylan Falck and
Will Esmoil picked up back-to-back pins at 149 and 157, defeating their opponents in 3:34 and 47 seconds respectively.
LJ Richardson continued the dominant effort at 174 for the Kohawks and set the stage for
Tristin Westphal, Jared Voss and
Mathieu Arsenault who recorded three-straight pins to secure the dual victory. All three Kohawks pinned their opponents in less than 1:17 with Westphal earning the second-fastest pin of the night at 58 seconds. With the win, Coe improves to 1-3 on the year in duals while Buena Vista drops to 0-3.
