CEDAR RAPIDS Iowa - The Coe College men's tennis team split a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday at the Clark Racquet Center, falling 5-4 to North Central College before defeating Cornell 8-1 to claim the Bremner Cup Point. The Kohawks, who moved to 3-1 on the season, dropped their opening match of the day against the Cardinals who have a pair of top-40 wins this season. Coe bounced back in the afternoon despite the narrow defeat in the morning, dominating Cornell 8-1 to give the Kohawks a 5-4 lead in the 2021-22 Bremner Cup Series.
The Kohawks got off to an excellent start in the match against North Central, taking two of three matches in doubles to grab an early lead. Top pair
Rami Hemaidan and
Bo Wilson secured an 8-6 victory at number one while
Jon Lansing and
Graham Peterson won via the same margin at number two. North Central stormed back in singles, winning four of the six contests to complete the comeback victory. Hemaidan and Wilson continued their strong days in singles, winning at number one and number three respectively to go 2-0 in the match.

Coe immediately bounced back in a battle for the Bremner Cup Point, winning all three matches. Hemaidan and Wilson remained perfect on the season with an 8-3 victory at number one while Peterson and Lansing claimed an 8-0 victory at number two.
Harry Hawbaker and
Alex Palomar capped off the perfect doubles performance with another 8-0 victory over their opponents at number three. The Kohaws went on to dominate the singles competition, winning five of six matches to cruise to the victory.
