CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's soccer team tallied a late goal in the second half but dropped a non-conference match to UW-Plattevile 5-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers scored early in the match, opening their account in the fourth minute before making it 2-0 in the 22nd. UW-Platteville added one more before the halftime whistle, going ahead 3-0 after 45 minutes. Platteville added two more quickly in the second half to extend their lead but Coe continued to fight and scored in the 86th minute as
Ella Weber converted a penalty kick for her first goal the season. The loss drops Coe to 0-5-0 on the season while UW-Platteville improves to 4-1 overall.

- Platteville had pressure early in the match, getting two corners and an early shot before finding the back of the net. Coe pressured with a pair of shots of its own from Brianna Ellsworth and Carley Balachio but the Pioneers made it two following a corner kick. Platteville used the momentum and added another goal less than 15 minutes later, grabbing a 3-0 lead before half. The hosts had a strong start to the second, getting a pair of quick goals in the 57th and 65th to ice the game. Coe continued to play and were awarded a penalty late in the game which Weber slotted away for the Kohawk's lone goal.
Up next: The Kohawks will return to action on Thursday evening when they travel to Waukesha, Wisconsin for a non-league match at Carroll University.
