INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Coe College women's soccer team opened American Rivers Conference play on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-1 at Simpson. The Kohawks trailed quickly in the match, seeing the Storm score the opening goal in the fifth minute. Coe battled back and tied the score at one midway through the half as
Ella Weber collected her third goal of the season for the Kohawks. The hosts regained the lead for good just under a minute later, scoring to restore the advantage with 15 minutes left in the half. Simpson would tack on two more goals in the second half, scoring in the 66tha nd 79th minute to secure the victory. The loss drops Coe to 0-8-1 overall and 0-1 in the A-R-C while Simpson improves to 4-3-1 and 1-0 in the league.

- Simpson started well, piling on pressure onto Coe's defense which dealth with a pair of early shot attempts. The Storm broke through in the 5th minute, getting a goal from Jordyn Foelske who finished off a pass from Cassie Nash. Coe struck next in the match after a quick move from defense to attack as Weber struck from range for her third of the season. Julia Clouse played a short pass across to Weber who ripped a shot from 30-plus yards to beat the keeper. The Storm immediately answered, restoring their lead with a counter attacking move that created the chance.
- Simpson kept its foot on the pedal in the second half, starting with a barrage of shots on Coe's goal in the opening 20 minutes. Coe had a chance to tie the game in the 65th minute after being awarded a penalty but the Storm keeper came up with a big save to keep the hosts in front. Simpson put the game out of reach just over 30 seconds after the save, getting a goal from Nash who scored her sixth of the season. The Storm added one more goal before the end of the half, tallying in the 79th minute to seal the game.
Up next: The Kohawks are back in action on Wednesday when they welcome Iowa Wesleyan to Clark Field for a non-conference match at 5 PM.
