CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday evening at Clark Field. The Tigers scored the game's first goal just over 10 minutes into the first half after a shot from outside the box found the back of the net. The Kohawks hung tough for the remainder of the period, dominating the possession and creating chances. The equalizer came in the 30th minute as
Carter Collis beat the keeper with a shot from just inside the penalty box. The second half featured more possession for the Kohawks but the Tigers scored against the run of play in the 82nd minute to secure the victory. The loss drops Coe to 0-2-0 while DWU improves to 1-1-3.

- The Kohawks had an early chance in the game as Ian Kearney just missed the target four minutes in. The Tigers opened the scoring in the 11th minute, taking advantage of a free kick in the attacking area. A ball was whipped into the box and the initial shot was saved by Max Twight but the follow-up beat the Kohawk keeper for the opening goal.
- Coe quickly got back on the attack, getting a pair of shot attempts in the next four minutes. The Kohawk attack finally paid off in the 30th minute when Josue Flores-Lopez chased down a loose ball and found Collis on the edge of the box. Collis controlled the ball and beat the keeper with a solid strike to tie the game.
- The Kohawks dominated the second half, posting 11 shots in the period to just three for the Tigers. Kevin Williams had Coe's best chance at goal in the 57th minute, producing a shot on target but DWU's Federico Dusini kept the game tied. The Tigers scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute after a free kick was delivered into the box. The bouncing ball was corralled by Grant Pierce who snuck it past a trio of Kohawk defenders to give the visitors the lead for good.
Up next: The Kohawks have a quick turnaround for their next match, traveling to Rock Island tomorrow evening for a road game at Augustana at 7 PM.
