CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's soccer team dropped a midweek match on Wednesday evening, falling 3-0 to Central College at Clark Field. Central controlled much of the opening half, grabbing an early 1-0 lead in the 15th minute while outshooting the hosts 6-0. The Kohawks came to life in the second 45 minutes, beginning the period on the front foot.
Ella Weber had a golden chance in the 61st minute, firing a shot from the edge of the area but a great save kept Coe off the board. The Dutch added their second goal in the 70th minute and later made it 3-0 with a goal in the 79th.

- Central put early pressure on Coe, recording its first shot on target in teh 6th minute but Lilly Monroe made the opening save to keep it scoreless. The Dutch got the lead with their next attempt on target, scoring the opener thanks to a well-timed finish. Coe settled into the game and kept the opposing attack quiet forthe remainder of the half, surrendering just one shot on target which Monroe handled. The Kohawks were more on the attack in the second period, with Weber creating her first of many chances in the second, beating a pair of defenders before firing an attempt that was saved. Central got its second goal just a few minutes later, making it 2-0 in the 70th after forcing a turnover in the attacking midfield. The Dutch ended the scoring in the 79th, getting the final goal from their leading scorer Grace Coates. The Kohawks continued to push for a goal in the final 10 minutes, firing numerous attempts on goal but efforts from Weber and Mac Adams were stopped as Central secured the clean sheet.
Up next: Coe is back on the road this weekend, taking on Loras College on Saturday, October 21 with the match set to kickoff at 5 PM.
