CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College volleyball team dropped the early-season rematch with Cornell on Tuesday evening, suffering a 3-0 defeat to the Rams. Cornell took an early advantage in the match, edging Coe in the first set for a 25-22 victory. The Rams had just 12 kills in the period but took advantage of seven Coe attacking errors to jump ahead. The Kohawks and Rams both struggled on offense in the second set but again the Rams managed to pull out a close one, earning a 25-23 decision. Cornell closed out the sweep in the final set, hitting an impressive .545 with 13 kills and one errors while claiming the final frame 25-9.

GAME FACTS
- Cornell and Coe went back-and-forth to begin the match, trading early points throughout. The Rams got the advantage with a four-point stretch, scoring four consecutive to grab a 10-6 lead. The Kohawks stormed back and got back into contention at 16-14 but Cornell finished strong and took the opener, escaping a late comeback from Coe.
- The Rams jumped ahead quickly in the second set, taking a 10-4 lead before Coe settled in. The Kohawks worked their way back into the match with a strong run, cutting the deficit to two at 15-13. Cornell regained momentum in the set and again held off a late Kohawk run, hanging on for a 25-23 win despite Coe scoring five-straight just before.
- Cornell dominated the final set, saving their best offensive performance for last. The Kohawks took an early 4-1 lead but the Rams stormed back, attacking at a .545 clip to claim the final set 25-9.
Up next: Coe returns to the court this weekend for a pair of A-R-C matches on the road, taking on Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday, October 6 and Buena Vista on Saturday, October 7.
