CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's soccer team knocked off regionally-ranked Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday evening at Clark Field, defeating the Prairie Wolves 4-1. Coe and NWU played a scoreless opening 45 minutes but the Kohawks grabbed the lead in the 57th thanks to a goal from
Juan Suarez. Coe added a pair of goals later in the half, striking twice in a one minute span to grab a 3-0 lead. The Prairie Wolves pulled a goal back in the 77th, converting a spot kick to get back into the match. The Kohawks did well to see out the remainder of the match and put the game to rest as Suarez tallied his second of the night with just over a minute to play.

GAME FACTS
- Coe started on the front foot in the opening half, spurning a few early chances. The teams both settled in during the middle of the period but again the Kohawks closed the half on the attack, getting a trio of shots and two corners in the final five minutes. Coe began the second period exactly how it ended the first but the visitors managed to force a save from Jr. Holland in the 50th minute. Suarez gave his team the lead moments later, capitalizing on a poor back pass before slotting past the keeper. Coe's second was orchestrated by Ian Kearney who left a man in the dust before playing a ball across the box to Jonathan Williams. Williams did the rest and hammered home Coe's second goal from just inside the area. The Kohawks struck less than a minute later with Kearney getting his goal, getting on the end of a long ball from Jackson Arnold prior to looping a shot over the keeper's head. Coe's defense was tight throughout the final minutes of the match despite the penalty, keeping the Prairie Wolves off the board from open play. Suarez got his second and ended the match in the dying moments, blasting one past the keeper after a pass from Cyrille Mungai.
Up next: The Kohawks return to the pitch on Tuesday on the road at Buena Vista, taking on the Beavers at 7:30 PM in Storm Lake.
