Women’s Soccer secures first league point in draw with Nebraska Wesleyan

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's soccer team picked up its first American Rivers Conference point of the 2023 season on Saturday evening, playing to a 0-0 draw with Nebraska Wesleyan at Clark Field. Coe and Nebraska Wesleyan were stuck in a defensive battle for a majority of the match, each holding the other without a shot on target for the 90 minutes. The Kohawks outshot the the Prairie Wolves overall, recording five attempts to the opponents two.

GAME FACTS
  • The visitors had the first chance of the game, registering their first shot in the eighth minute. Coe quickly responded, creating a few chances before its first shot of the match in the 18th minute. The Kohawks controlled possession for much of the remainder of the opening half but were unable to create any more scoring opportunities before the halftime whistle. Carley Balachio began the half with Coe's first shot of the period a little over ten minutes in, just missing the target with an effort from distance. Balachio, Mac Adams and Jordan Rosas registered one more shot each prior to the end of the match but all three attempts missed, forcing Coe to settle for the draw. 
 
Up next: Coe is back in action on Tuesday evening, traveling to Storm Lake for a matchup with Buena Vista at 5 PM.
