CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College swimming and diving teams completed competition at the inaugural Ameriacn Rivers Conference swimming and diving championships on Saturday. Women's team members Megan Norris and Margaret Rhodes brought home major awards for the Kohawks, picking up the honors of women's diver and women's swimmer of the meet while the women's coaches were selected as the coaching staff of the year. Norris, who swept the female diving competition, set new school and conference marks in the 1 and 3 Meter diving competition. On Saturday, she capped off an incredible weekend with a score of 452 in prelims and 454.95 in finals, a new school record. Rhodes, a freshman from Decorah, secured the title of female swimmer of the meet after three impressive days of competition. She put an exclamation point on the championships with a gold and new top-10 mark in the 100 Free, posting a time of 54.10 to shave .9 seconds off her prelim time. Lauren Pio, who finished just behind Rhodes in the female swimmer of the meet standings, earned yet another gold medal to bring her individual championship total to four. She posted a new top-10 mark in the 200 Breast, registering a mark of 2:25.51 which is good for second on Coe's top-10 list. The men's team was led by Zach Kolker and Luke Baldwin, who each picked up a podium finish on the evening while competing in a time trial event. Baldwin picked up a gold medal in the 200 Breast, posting a mark of 2:09.03, just behind his own school record. Kolker set a school record for the second-night running, earning second place in the 200 Back with a record time of 1:51.75. The night was highlighted by the final team event in the 400 Free relay, with the team of Izzy Craig, Rhodes, Valerie Gutierrez and Pio posting a new top-10 mark to finish third overall.
