CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's basketball team saw its season come to a close on Tuesday evening, falling 70-64 to Luther College at Kohawk Arena. The teams went back and forth in the opening three periods, trading slim leads throughout the contest. Coe grabbed the largest lead of the game midway through the second period, but the visitors never gave in and sliced the deficit to five at the break. After a seesawing third, Luther used a dominant fourth quarter to pull out the victory, outscoring Coe 23-13 in the final 10 minutes of action.
Kaalyn Petersen and
Caydee Kirkham turned in impressive offensive performances despite the loss, posting 23 and 16 points respectively. Petersen notched her 10th double-double of the year as well, adding 13 boards in 35 minutes of action. With the loss, Coe ends the season with a record 18-8 overall while Luther improves to 14-12 on the year.

- Luther opened the game with an early bucket, getting a layup to begin the scoring. Coe answered with a strong spurt to settle into the game, ripping off an 8-4 run to grab a two-point advantage just under four minutes into the game. The teams traded buckets for the final six minutes of the quarter, combining for 19 points but the hosts edged the Norse to hold an 18-15 lead after 10 minutes. Both teams were efficient on offense in the quarter as Coe shot 50 percent from the field while the visitors shot 45.5.
- The Norse were on top in the first two-plus minutes of the second period, outscoring Coe 5-2 to tie the score at 20. The Kohawks clapped back with a dominant stretch, ripping off 12 unanswered points to restore a comfortable advantage. Luther clawed back before the end of the half thanks to an 11-4 run, closing the gap to five at 36-31 with 20 minutes in the books.
- The visitors opened the second half with a strong run, scoring six unanswered points in the first 1:42 to take a 37-36 lead. Coe quickly answered the call, putting seven straight on the scoreboard to regain a six-point lead. Luther continued to have a response to the Coe runs, putting together an 8-2 stretch over the next three minutes to tie the game at 45. The Kohawks regained a lead before the end of the quarter, scoring six of the final eight points including a 3 from Kelly Knight which helped put her team in front 51-47.
- Luther started quickly once again in the fourth quarter, putting together a 7-4 run that drew the visitors within one. The teams traded baskets over the next few minutes but a pair of free throws from Petersen restored a three-point advantage for Coe with 2:20 left in the third. The Norse then dominated the final 2:20 of the game, scoring the game's final nine points to pull out the win and advance into the A-R-C semifinals.
