ORLANDO, Fla. - The Coe College baseball team picked up the second split of its Florida schedule earlier on Tuesday, taking one of two games against Mitchell College (CT.). The Kohawk offense put together its best outing of the young season in the first game, racking up 10 hits for 13 runs to outlast the Mariners 13-12.
Jake Brosius, Tyler Bayless and
Mitchell Eckardt all recorded multi-hit games in the win, each registering at least two RBI.
Michael Bonner tossed 2.1 solid-innings of relief for the Kohawks late in the game and turned it over to
Austin Divello who managed to get the final out of the game despite a grand slam that drew the opposition within one run. Both offenses cooled off in the second game, combining for just 12 hits and four runs as the Mariners earned the split with a 3-1 victory. Mitchell took an early lead with a solo shot in the third inning but a
Reid Rausch RBI double tied the game for Coe in the bottom of the sixth. The Mariners threw the final punch with two outs in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs on a double to left field which gave them the lead for good. With the doubleheader split, Coe and Mitchell move to 4-4 and 6-2 respectively.
