Men’s Tennis Splits with Buena Vista & Grinnell, Peterson Claims Singles Win against Pioneers

| Box Score 2 CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday at the Clark Racquet Center, earning a victory against A-R-C opponent Buena Vista while dropping a non-conference matchup against Grinnell. The Kohawks earned the win against the Beavers by default due to a lack of available players for the opponents. Coe battled in the second match of the day, testing the regionally-ranked Pioneers in doubles and singles. The Kohawk doubles teams at No. 2 and No. 3 of Ivan Burt-Smith and Grant Idoux and Alex Palomar/Isaac Hinze took their opponents to the brink, falling just short in 8-5 and 8-7 decisions. Graham Peterson continued his excellent sophomore season for the Kohawks in singles, picking up the team's lone win with a come-from-behind win, erasing a 1-0 set deficit to pick up the victory. Ivan Burt-Smith also forced a decisive third set, falling 10-6 in the tiebreaker after a 7-6 victory in set two. With the split, Coe moves to 13-8 overall and 5-1 in the A-R-C.
