CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College volleyball team hosted its annual Mabel Lee Invite over the weekend at Kohawk Arena, going 1-2 overall with a victory over Illinois College and losses to Augustana and #9 UW-Whitewater. Coe got things started on Friday evening with a 3-0 sweep against Illinois College but later suffered a 3-2 defeat, coming up just short in the fifth set against the Vikings. The Kohawks wrapped up the tournament with a tough match against ninth-ranked Whitewater, falling 3-0 to the Warhawks who took advantage of some sloppy play from the hosts.

GAME FACTS
- The Kohawks hit .206 in the match with 35 kills and just 15 errors. Coe's offense was balanced throughout the victory with six players registering at least five kills. Maggie Furlong was the team leader with eight kills in the win, adding eight digs and a block assist. Grace Lueken had six kills and hit .667 while chipping in with three block assists and one solo block.
AUGUSTANA 3 - #23 COE 2
GAME FACTS
- Coe took the opening set against Augustana, claiming a 25-23 win despite committing 10 errors. The Vikings stormed back in the second set, squeaking out a 27-25 victory to knot the match at one. Both teams again struggled on offense but the Vikings committed one fewer error than Coe to make it 1-1. Augustana took a 2-1 lead after the third set, earning a 25-20 decision after hitting a match-high .275. The Kohawks stayed alive in the match with a crucial 25-23 victory in the fourth set with 13 kills and just four errors. The Vikings completed the five-set thriller and secured the win, earning a 15-13 victory in the fifth as Coe committed four errors.
#9 UW-WHITEWATER 3 - #23 COE 0
GAME FACTS
- Whitewater jumped on top from the opening set, taking a 1-0 lead after a 25-17 decision. The Warhawks hit just .150 but took advantage of nine Kohawk errors to grab the lead. UWW followed with more of the same in the second set, improving its attacking percentage to .222 in the period while registering 11 kills. The Warhawks completed the sweep with their strongest set in the third, posting 14 kills and an attacking percentage of .385 while Coe had just five kills and five errors.
Up next: Coe returns to the court on Wednesday, September 13 for a Bremner Cup battle against Cornell in Mount Vernon at 7 PM.
