DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Coe College women's basketball team took a top 25 to the wire for the second time in a week on Wednesday evening, pushing #21 Loras to the brink before eventually falling 60-58 on a last-second layup from the hosts. The Duhawks controlled the game early on, outscoring Coe 15-8 in the opening quarter while holding an eight-point lead at the halftime break. The Kohawks continued to trail by eight heading into the final period but quickly erased the lead, flipping the score in their favor with a 13-1 run to go up 54-50 with 5:07 to play. Loras ended up scoring 10 of the final 14 points, including the game-tying jumper with 32 seconds and the game-winning layup with less than a second on the clock.
Kaalyn Petersen had a game-high 18 points and 14 rebounds, posting her eighth double-double of the season.
Taylor Brunson was Coe's only other player in double figures, finishing with 12 points, six rebounds and five assists.

- Loras raced out of the gate in the opening quarter, scoring 13 of the first 15 points as the hosts converted six of their first nine field goals while holding Coe to just 1-of-9. Coe answered before the end of the quarter, ripping off a quick 6-2 run to pull within seven after 10 minutes. The teams went back-and-forth for much of the second, trading blows throughout but the Kohawks made it a six-point game as Ellie Wisner converted a four-point play to make it 27-21. Loras pushed its lead to double-digits during the next minute-plus, ripping off an 8-3 run that gave the Duhawks at 35-24 lead with 1:12 left in the frame. Petersen gave her team the last laugh in the half, converting an and-one chance with just four seconds left as she pulled Coe within eight at 35-27. The toe-to-toe action continued into the third period with each team scoring 14 points with five field goals a piece. Kelly Knight hit a pair of 3s in the quarter, including one to pull Coe within five with 1:38 left in the frame but Loras responded with its own 3 to restore a 49-41 lead with one quarter to play. Coe dominated the opening five minutes of the final quarter, opening the frame with a 13-1 spurt to pull ahead 54-50 with 5:07 to play. Both teams struggled over the final minutes of the period but Loras regained a two-point lead with 2:31 to play, scoring six unanswered points. Coe got the next two baskets on layups from Petersen and Brunson, taking back a 58-56 lead with 47 seconds to play. Loras would tie the game on its next possession, connecting on a two-point jumper with 32 seconds to play. The Kohawks committed a costly turnover on what proved to be their final possession of the game, being called for an offensive foul with less than five seconds to play. The hosts won the game with less than a second remaining, driving to the basket for a game-winning layup.
